Virginia Vacation, part 1

Firstly, on Friday, we had to catch a very early morning flight. We woke up about 4am, to leave the house by 4:30am in order to catch a 6:20am flight.

After a long three hour layover in Atlanta, we boarded the plane to Virginia. We landed there no problem, and picked up our rental car. After an interesting adventure in trying to start the car, in which I facebooked "how many people does it take to start a damn car??", we were finally on our way. (And for an fyi, it took 4 people to start this car -- it was a hybrid, and you just had to push a button. We had pushed the button, however didn't hear any noise, so we didn't think that it was working. The assistant working in the area came over and said that if it says "ready" which is printed in extremely small print, then we are good to go. Interesting...

The downside of the trip there was the drive from Richmond to Virginia Beach.

A drive that is about 100 miles, that should take about 1 1/2 hours took double that. We left the airport at 3:30pm, and did not get to my uncle's house in Virginia Beach until 8pm. We made one stop along the way, right before the tunnel. Needless to say, by the time we made it to the house, we were worn out. Well, except for Ethan, as he fell asleep before we made it out of the airport parking garage.

DSCF5426 One of the pictures I got of the backed up traffic -- it seemed like every highway we tried to take was backed up -- and there were no wrecks anywhere!!

DSCF5425 The sign made me laugh. Maybe that's why traffic was so backed up?!
