A New Beginning

Well, sorry that it has been so long. I would say that I have been extremely busy, and extremely stressed (both of which are true), but I know that no one wants to hear excuses. Instead, I'll just fill everyone in.

Jerrod quit his job.

Well, let me back up for a minute. Jerrod had been interviewing, for a couple of weeks, with American Family to become an insurance agent. He did a phone interview, then they did a background check on him, then they sent him a test to take (207 or so questions), and then he met with the district managers. After meeting with the district managers, he was supposed to meet with the regional manager and then the state manager.

Friday, June 18th was when he met with the district managers. They really liked him, and apparently after he left, they called the regional manager and said that they wanted to hire him and get him in for training that started in the beginning of August. The regional manager said do it, they would deal with the formalities later. So, they called Jerrod and had him stop by on Monday, June 21st.

When he stopped by, they told him that they were offering him a position, but that before he can start training in August, he needs to get licensed. They meant the "property and casualty" license and the "life, accident, and health" license. He had to have the licenses done by July 9th, because the district manager would be out of town on business for the week after that, and if he didn't have it before, they wouldn't have the time to get everything processed for the start of training.

So, on Monday, Jerrod called J, his manager. He told J the situation, and told him that if M (the owner) would pay Jerrod a little bit more a month (it worked out to about $1 -1.50 more an hour) then he would stay there, and start the training at the first of the year. If not, then he needed to quit basically immediately, so that he would have the time to study.

J called M and told him what was going on. M decided that he wasn't going to pay Jerrod any extra and said "if you aren't going to give us a two weeks notice, then don't even bother coming back to work at all."

When J called Jerrod back and told him what M said, Jerrod said okay, fine. He told J that he was sorry that it came down to that, but J told him that he understood, and that he would have done the same thing if he was in Jerrod's position.

So, Jerrod has not worked all week. Instead he has been studying virtually non-stop for his life, accident, and health license. In fact, he is taking the test right now! Yes, he only had 4 days to study for this test, since we didn't get the materials purchased until later on Monday night.

He is extremely nervous, about the test in general, and also about what will happen if he is not able to pass the test today. He can take the test again in another 7 days, however, that also cuts into the studying time for the property and casualty test. And since his property and casualty test is on July 8th, it doesn't leave him any time to re-take it if something were to happen.

So please, please be thinking about us right now. Please be sending all thoughts and prayers that everything will work out, and that Jerrod will do wonderfully on the tests, like I know that he can.

I'm going to get off here, to go do laundry and try to take my mind off of the uncertainty, that right now, I don't know that I can deal with.

Thanks, I love you and I miss you all!
